PRECALCULUS Quizlet for Chapter 4
PreCalc
Hey folks, your assignment for tonight is to study and then to reflect on the studying process.
Hey folks, your assignment for tonight is to study and then to reflect on the studying process.
It's a review of all the terms and stuff we have covered in Chapter 4. This should help you to figure out what you need to study before our TEST!
This Quizlet has 22 terms. I would recommend using Quizlet's different Study methods, especially LEARN, FLASHCARDS, and SCATTER. TIP: Each study method should give you the option, either on the side of the screen or the bottom, to change which side of the "flashcard" you see. The options are Terms, Definitions, or Both.
The most important thing to know is that your grade is in your hands and what you do today is going to have a major impact on your performance on the test!
For your assignment, go to this new Quizlet (Links to an external site.) then respond to this assignment in Canvas. Your response should include your thoughts on this chapter and/or Quizlet. Did this extra studying help? If you can't get into our Canvas Course, just write your sentences on a piece of paper to turn in tomorrow.
Keep studying!

PreCalc Zine Project
PreCalc
During Chapter 3, we're going to be doing a creative little partner project. It will be due next Friday, October 2nd.
In addition to developing our math knowledge, we will be developing art/design skills, making our own story problems, and also teaching new content!
This will be done through 'zines, which are self-published, cheap, and DIY magazines. They can be a very powerful tool and they're just fun to experience!
If you ever find yourself in an independent bookstore, they probably have a 'zine section. These are normally made up of photographs, comics, journals, and very niche/specific content.
We're basing these projects on this Cool Tutorial. Click the link if you want! Do your own research to find inspiration too!
So you and your partner need to work together to create 6 pages of content and a front and back cover. That means there are 8 pages total, and they all need to fit on one side of a single sheet of paper. So we need to design these as small pages.
I will be handling the cutting of the paper, but you folks will need to design the layout and supply the art. We will be borrowing magazines and colored pencils from Miss Hensley next week to work on these!
Project requirements:
Create 6 pages of content. This is a very flexible project, so each page can be full of color and images, or very sparse and clean. No page can be completely blank.
Cover one section of Chapter 3. Your options are 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5. This can be done using any of the following: Definitions, practice problems, conceptual descriptions, images, drawing, and/or photographs, etc, You must include at least one "story problem."
Create a title for your 'zine. You do not have to put your name on it if you don't want to.
Use your creativity and check in with me if you have a crazy idea that you want to try!
You will need to fill out this sheet in class Monday, so be ready to answer these questions:

You may have seen this before, but it's a really great inspiration for starting the school year!
This is how I will be formatting videos on this blog. The time at the bottom are the parts of the video that I think are the most important. Feel free to watch the whole video, but only NEED you to watch the time frame shown.
When I assign a video, I would recommend keeping some notes on the video to use during class discussion! Get after those participation points!

Path to Teaching:
Here are the boring details! It's a bit of a long story, but it's been a very enjoyable ride. I graduated from UCHS in 2008 then I went to IUPUI my freshman year, pursuing Computer Programming. I then switched majors to Social Work, wanting to make a difference in the world. After my freshman year, I transferred to Ball State. At Ball State, I pursued Accounting for two years. I definitely have a strength with numbers and business. I ended up transferring to IU East for my Senior year and I graduated from there in 2012. I majored in Business Administration with a minor in Entrepreneurship. After graduating, I worked in retail management for a few years and then got into the recruiting field. From there, I realized that the occupation I had always been looking for was teaching! It's perfect! Suits all my needs and my strengths. I am so excited to get started!
